The report focuses on the business model implemented in Samsung Electronics, which has been operating in the international electronics market for quite some time. The report analyzes several components of the business model of Samsung and tries to connect those with various organizational theories and concepts. The report analyzes the purpose of Samsung, the general environment in Samsung, CSR activities done by Samsung along with the organizational culture implemented in Samsung. All of these components of the business model of Samsung are analyzed on the basis of how they lead to better performance of both the individual employees and the organization as a whole. These components of Samsungs business model define its success in the corresponding markets of operation (Rice, 2013). Purpose of the organization The purpose of an organization is responsible for driving it towards success and for defining the business processes required for success. The purpose of Samsung is to maintain its leadership in the international electronics market through increasing the sales of its products. Increasing the profit and expanding the business is another purpose of Samsung. Samsung has been operating on the basis of its vision for 2020, which is, Inspire the world, Create the future. As per this vision, the management at Samsung has defined the mission of the organization. This mission of the organization for 2017, can be defined in three parts. The organization will focus on exploring new technologies, manufacturing innovative products and designing creative solutions to the requirements of the customers (Valentine, 2015). All of these activities point to Samsungs mission to become the biggest electronics brand in the entire world and to maintain its leadership position in the electronics markets. The concept of purpose of the organization defines why the organization exists in the world. Samsung exists in the market to explore new technologies, provide innovative electronics products to the customers and to design creative solutions to various real-time requirements (Ferguson, 2016). Organizations general environment The concept of general environment of an organization consists of a large number of factors such as economic, political, legal, social and technological factors. These factors affect everyone in the organization to various extents. The social factor of the general environment consists of various parts such as the demographic and sociocultural factors. This factor defines now the products of Samsung can relate to the customers from different sociocultural groups and different demographic groups. This factor has a significant impact on Samsung as the sales of the products is based on this relation (Pullen, 2014). The customers from all the socioeconomic and demographic groups should be able to relate to multiple products manufactured by Samsung in order for them to become Samsungs customers. Samsung can deal with this factor in a number of ways. Samsung should ensure to have the product mix to have suitable products for each of the demographic groups. Samsung can design the products in its range of products to cater to the requirements of the customers present in each of the demographic groups. The products of Samsung can also be designed to be present in various price ranges, which in turn allows customers to come from different socioeconomic groups (Edwards, 2006). The general environment of the organization consists of both the internal and external environment of the organization. The factors that can affect the business processes of Samsung are considered to be the part of these environments. The internal environment consists of the stakeholders of the organization along with the employees of Samsung. The external environment of Samsung consists of the market intermediaries and society that affect the business of Samsung along with the political, environmental, social, technological and legal factors (Verbos, 2007). The social factor in the business model of Samsung can be categorized into demographics factors and socioeconomic factors as mentioned before. The organization has been operating by keeping these factors effectively in focus. The demographic factors include the preferences and demands of the customers changing according to their culture, age, gender and family background. Samsung focuses on its research activities to a significant extent in order to analyze and understand the needs of the customers along with the changes in their demands according to the trend in the corresponding markets (Jovanovic, 2015). Samsung stays sensitive to the changes in the market trends through continuous and effective research activities. These research activities include gathering feedback and opinions from the customers regarding the products and services provided by the organization through different media. The changes in the trend in the corresponding markets should allow the management in Samsung t o introduce changes in its business model and corresponding business activities. This in turn requires Samsung to implement a flexible business model in the workplace, which welcomes changes as per the changes in the trends in the market and the changes in the preferences of the customers (Edwards, 1998). The socioeconomic factors affecting the business of Samsung can be defined in terms of the pricing strategies of the organization. The pricing of the products of Samsung define how the customers take the decision of buying the product. The management of Samsung can invest in the process of understanding the buying behavior of the customers in order to understand the suitable price points for various socioeconomic groups in the society. This in turn allows the organization to design the specification, features and price of the products according to the buying behavior of the customers in the corresponding market of operation (Grnig, 2015). Organizational CSR and ethics The concept of organizational corporate social responsibility defines the initiatives that the organization is taking or will take to make the world a better place for everyone. This concept allows the organization to have a strong and positive brand image in the corresponding market of operation through the initiatives which are beneficial for the society. Samsung has taken up a lot of CSR activities as part of its business model. These CSR activities of Samsung focus on various factors or sections of the society. The CSR activities of Samsung focusing on the educational component of the society include building public libraries, donating books to schools and creating technical schools across the underprivileged society. These activities allow the organization to shape the future of the society by helping the young students in the corresponding society (Hollensbe, 2014). This in turn allows the organization to be considered as an important member of the society. Samsung has been wor king towards the employment component of the society as well. Samsung is providing trainings through its technical school program through which a lot of people are learning the required technical skills to be employed in any industry. These activities in turn allows Samsung to be considered as one of the key contributors towards decreasing the unemployment rate of the corresponding market of operation. Samsung has also invested in a number of sustainable development projects to preserve the environment. These activities include Samsungs involvement in having a sustainable water treatment plants and water supply systems (Cha, 2016). All of these CSR activities of the organization has allowed the brand to be considered to be an environment-friendly and social branch which gives a lot back to the society along with its profits. This in turn allows the organization to gain a stronger positive brand image in the corresponding market of operation (Babnik, 2014). The concept of ethics is very important for the success of an organization. The implementation of workplace ethics allows the employees to have a proper guideline to be able to tackle various ethical dilemmas. There are multiple ethical theories on which Samsung has developed its workplace ethics strategy. The strategy implemented in the workplace of Samsung allows the employees to follow certain guidelines and regulations. The compliance to these guidelines and regulations in the workplace of Samsung allows the employees to stay true to the organization and to each other. The higher management of Samsung ensure that the workplace ethics and related strategies are a part of each stage of the business model (Robbins, 2016). The workplace ethics and related strategies have been woven into each and every business processes of Samsung, which in turn allows the management of the organization ensure a successful ethical workplace for all the employees in the organization (Williams, 2014). The higher management of Samsung include workplace ethics in the individual goals of all the employees in the workplace. So, all the employees in Samsung are evaluated at the end of the appraisal cycle to check how they have complied to workplace ethics and related strategies. The effective implementation of the complaint and grievance media in the workplace of Samsung allows the management to tackle the unethical activities effectively, if any arises in the workplace of the organization. The higher management of Samsung put a lot of effort into the training and development activities of the employees in order to ensure that each and every employee in the workplace is familiar with the workplace ethics and the related strategies implemented in the organization (David, 2014). Organizational culture The concept of organizational culture is based on the fact that the employees perform and interact better with more synergy when they share beliefs, opinions and values. Obviously, it can't be true to the most granular level as each of the individuals in an organization will be different both in personality and in opinions. But the concept of organizational culture defines a bug picture for the shared beliefs of the employees. The concept of organizational culture provides an overall shared view and beliefs to all the employees in the organization. Such shared belief and view through the organizational culture allows the employees to work together and in the same direction in order to achieve similar goals (Alvesson, 2015). Samsung is known for its creative organizational culture in the workplace. The higher management in Samsung put a lot of effort into making the organizational culture the most suitable for the employees in the workplace. The management in Samsung ensure that the employees in the workplace should be included in each and every phase of the decision-making process. The inclusion of the employees in each business decision making process allows the employees to feel comfortable and confident about their effort making a change in the real world. This culture in Samsung also allows the employees to pitch into the decision-making process, which in turn allows the employees to experience the conversion of their opinions and ideas into actual implementation. The organizational culture in Samsung also allows the employee to have flexible working hours. This in turn allows the employees to maintain a good work and life balance along with allowing them suitable number of paid leaves per year. This in turn keeps the employees satisfied with their employment with the organization, which allows them enough to maintain a good work and life balance. Samsung also allows the employees to work from home whenever possible to be able to support the employees in any emergency or unfavorable situation, which in turn keeps the employees satisfied with the facilities provided to them by the organization (Carroll, 2010). Conclusion The report focused on a number of components of the business model implemented in Samsung. The purpose of Samsung was analyzed to be the biggest organization on the international market of electronics. The report then analyzed various factors present in the general environment of Samsung, which can affect the business processes of the organization. The social factors affecting the business of Samsung were analyzed in detail. The corporate social responsibilities of Samsung were also analyzed, which are providing a lot of benefits to the corresponding society of operation. The ethical guidelines and strategies implemented in the workplace of Samsung were also analyzed in order to provide an overview of the workplace ethics implemented in Samsung.
